Thank you for pointing out the possible security issue in the Singular Forum. Unfortunately, this is the default behavior of our forum software. Luckily, we were able to work around this issue in the meantime. Hence, the original password is not send to the user anymore.

Regards,
Alexander Dreyer

Dear Singular,

I'm a new user, though experienced with Macaulay2, which I've helped develop. Singular is a very impressive system!

I just registered on this support site, and was very unhappy to find the password that I used in registering in the email that was immediately sent out!

This is an unsafe practice, as I'm sure you know. A good practice is to send a temporary password, and make the user change it immediately on logging in.

Please change this -- though it's too late to help me.

Thanks,

David Eisenbud
