The bigger question is: Why is the line

not properly aligned with the previous lines (which have an indent of 1 space)

I am back using Singular after too many years. I know that this is irrelevant, but I think that the text logo of singular is better like follows. It is not rendered well here, but in emacs it looks much closer to the picture logo.
