Okay, I solved my own problem by putting the /bin directory for Singular in my path. It would be great if a comment to this affect were added to the webpage for how to install Singular from a .dmg file. And a warning about all the "Open anyway" permissions you have to grant on Catalina.

I realized that I should add one more detail to my posting:

if in a terminal window I type

open -a Singular

I can get Singular to open, but it does not seem to recognize my current directory (path problems?) so I can not do something like

open -a Singular mySingularFile.sing

and have it work.

Hi,

I downloaded the .dmg file for Singular, but my iMac is overly cautious. I have been unable to overcome the installation concerns of Apple (not downloaded from trusted source on the App store). Even when I do the "usual" things to overcome these "securities" I can not get Singular to work correctly.

I would rather skip installing fink or home brew on this computer, so would like a disk image that installs on Catalina.
