Does SINGULAR run significantly faster on computers with AMD Athlon chips than Intel chips? Are there any formal or informal benchmarks of the Windows version?
Are there any notebook/laptop computers that have been especially excellent for use with SINGULAR?
I'm told by people at Chessbase.de (chess programs also use all integer computations and would seem to be good indicators for Singular), however, that Athlon notebooks have stability problems (caused by heat) when running long intensive computations---and that certain Intel machines automatically slow themselves down in these situations to prevent overheating.
Thanks for all pointers---I am looking to buy a Windows notebook computer.
