August 2005: Singular 3 for Windows released. In the next months Singular 3 will become part of the Cygwin package repository. During the approval process you can install Singular from our local repository or via a Package for the Web.

July 2004: The 2004 Richard D. Jenks Memorial Prize for Excellence in Software Engineering for Computer Algebra was awarded to the Singular team (at the ISSAC meeting).
June 2004: Singular was successfully used by O. Labs to find a septic surface with 99 nodes (new world record).
May 2004: Update of Singular version 2-0-5 available for most Unix platforms and Mac PPC Darwin.

November 2002: Release of Singular version 2.0.4, a minor upgrade from version 2.0.3 (mainly bug fixes) is available for Linux platforms and Mac PPC Darwin.
August 2002: Textbook "A Singular Introduction to Commutative Algebra" appears at Springer Verlag. The book includes a CD containing a distribution of Singular version 2.0.3 (for Unix/Windows/Mac platforms).
April 2002: Typesetting of the book "A Singular Introduction to Commutative Algebra" (by G.-M. Greuel and G. Pfister, with contributions by O. Bachmann, C. Lossen and H. Schönemann) completed.
November 2001: The Windows and Macintosh versions of Singular version 2.0.0, are now available, too.
March 2001: Singular version 2.0.0, the first release of the new release series version 2.0. It is a major upgrade of the 1.2 and 1.3 release series.
June 2000: Release of Singular version 1.3.8, a major upgrade from version 1.2.3 and an alpha version of the upcoming realease version 2.0. There are only minor additions and bug fixes w.r.t. version 1.3.7. Most importantly, this new version also includes a release of Singular for Windows 95/98/NT/2000.
February 2000: Singular has a new WWW home site: http://www.singular.uni-kl.de
December 1999: Release of Singular version 1.3.7, a major upgrade from version 1.2.3 and an alpha version of the upcoming realease version 2.0.
October 1998: Release of Singular version 1.2.2, a minor upgrade from version 1.2.1 (mainly bug fixes).
August 1998: Singular (version 1.2.1) is now also available on CD. Our entire ftp and WWW site, as well as ready-to-run Singular executables for various platforms are contained on this CD. 100 copies of it were freely distributed to the attendees of our presentation at ICM'98. Unfortunately, we have none left and are unable to distribute further Singular CD's (at least for the time being).
